FISHING WITH HEROS - Recreational Therapy

I'm Wendell Marler, Founder & President of Fishing With Heroes, a 501c3 non-profit organization. As someone who often thanks every soldier I meet and wishes to do more, I decided to create this non-profit with encouragement from my great friends and family. Our all-volunteer team takes Active Duty & Retired Soldiers and First Responders fishing, regardless of their skill level or experience. We provide all the necessary gear, licenses, boats, and even a delicious lunch, and if desired, we cook up their catch, clean, and vacuum seal them to take home.

This mission started as a way to say thank you to these heroes, but it has turned into something even more significant. Psychologists refer to it as Recreational Therapy, and it is essential for these heroes to have a day on the water where they can forget about everything and enjoy the moment. After hearing about their experiences to protect our freedom, it's clear that this therapy is more important than ever, and I'm honored to be able to provide it.

It's not just our Veterans; Active Duty Soldiers, Police Officers, and Firefighters are also experiencing significant daily stress. Providing a day on the water with no worries is a very big deal to these heroes. We are proud to say that all proceeds from our events go directly to the costs of taking these heroes fishing.
